New travel grant award scheme

19 August 2008

Deafness Research UK has re-vamped its travel award scheme in order to make the application process more straightforward.

A travel grant fund of £1000 is now available each quarter to be distributed amongst the most competitive applications from early-stage researchers to present their work at meetings where the subject is one of Deafness Research UK’s priority areas. Grants may also be awarded for travel for collaborative purposes or to learn techniques only available elsewhere which would be used to further a research project in which Deafness Research UK has an interest.

Applications will be assessed competitively against each other by a research adviser according to the quality of the work, the relevance of the work to the aims of Deafness Research UK, and the strength of support from the applicant’s supervisor.

Awards will be made at the Trustees’ meetings at the end of January, April, July and October. The maximum award available to any individual will be £750.

The next deadline for applications is Friday 5th September 2008 to enable consideration at October’s meeting.

Separate schemes will continue to exist for travel to the ARO midwinter meeting, the International Hearing Aid Research Conference and the Conference on Implantable Auditory Prostheses.

More details of the application process for these and the new travel award scheme can be found in our Guidance Notes for Applicants.

The new Travel Grant application form can be downloaded from Application forms.
