New fundraising manager for Deafness Research UK

12 October 2004

Deafness Research UK, the UK's medical charity for deaf and hard of hearing people, has appointed Ms Lee Green as Head of Fundraising.

Lee joins Deafness Research UK from Action for Kids, where she also held the position of Head of Fundraising. This follows a 10-year career in the charity sector, working for a range of national and smaller charities such as the Lord Mayor of London's Appeal and St John ambulance service.

"I'm excited to join Deafness Research UK because it's a time for great change for the charity. Deafness Research UK is growing rapidly and undertaking some extraordinary work. I am looking forward to being a part of it.

"As someone who has a hearing impairment, I have a vested interest in seeing progress made into this area through research. Based on Deafness Research UK' track record for ground-breaking research, such as producing hearing tests for babies and improving hearing aid technology, I'm very optimistic about the future."

Ms Green replaces Anna Thomson, who has gone on to become Fundraiser for CINI UK and study for a Masters Degree.

Deafness Research UK Chief Executive, Vivienne Michael, says, "The possibilities for transforming the lives of deaf and hard of hearing people through research are greater than ever before. As the only research charity in this field in the UK, Deafness Research UK has an enormous responsibility to ensure that our high quality research teams receive the support they need. Lee's extensive experience in all aspects of fundraising will be invaluable to us and we are delighted that she is joining us."
