Defeating England

Long standing supporter Jamie Riach completed one of the most challenging fundraising activities Deafness Research UK has ever seen.

He cycled the length of England in just over a week in June, in an event he christened 'Defeating England'.

Jamie's route took him from Berwick on the Scottish border all the way to Land's End in Cornwall. Taking in many of the sights and sounds of England, he covered 70 miles a day.

He chose to raise funds for Deafness Research UK becauee "it is the UK's only national charity dedicated to helping hearing-impaired people through medical research and education. The charity exists to secure radical improvements in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all forms of hearing impairment.

"My primary personal interest is that my daughter was born with hearing on one side only. The personal interest in the charity gave an added incentive to go the extra mile, or indeed, miles."
