Application forms
The application form you should use depends on the type of grant you wish to apply for.
If there is not a specific form for the type of grant you wish to apply for, use the project grant application form.
Applications for funding from Deafness Research UK must demonstrate how the research fits with the charity's research strategy and priority areas. However, these priority areas are not exhaustive and promising work outside of these areas can occasionally be considered.
Project grants (£15,000 and over)
Normally one or two year awards in support of one precisely formulated line of research.

Small Grants (less than £15,000)
Grants to help researchers meet urgent requirements or conduct pilot studies. A fast-track peer review procedure exists for applications at this level.

Equipment Grants
Applications are assessed on the basis of the research case.

Postgraduate Studentships
Three-year awards based on MRC rates. Applications should be from prospective supervisors.

Travel Grants
Awards up to £750 available to grant-holders and others for meetings and collaborative visits.

Grants for Infrastructure
Occasionally, grants may be made to provide facilities (equipment, accommodation, and/or support staff) for a research group rather than for a named project.

Meetings
To promote discussion in areas where it is felt important to stimulate research, review future directions or improve communication between researchers.

Vacation scholarships
The scholarships are intended to provide promising undergraduates with hands-on research experience during the summer vacation. Applications should be submitted by potential supervisors with hearing research teams at UK universities.

Conference Travel Schemes
We run special schemes to enable researchers to attend the ARO Midwinter meeting, the International Hearing Aid Research Conference and the Conference on Implantable Auditory Prostheses. These are advertised via EarMail and on this website at the appropriate time.
