Our vision

Nine million people in the UK - one in seven of the population - live with hearing loss. Many millions more suffer tinnitus and other related problems. Worldwide, there are more than 560 million people affected. All stand to have their lives dramatically improved by our research.

Maybe you, or someone close to you, are one of them.

Deafness Research UK is the only national charity dedicated to improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of all forms of deafness and hearing impairment. Ultimately, the charity seeks to find cures for these distressing and neglected disabilities.

We rely solely on voluntary support and gifts in wills and legacies fund more than a quarter of our research. Without them our vital work just would not take place.

Legacies have helped us achieve so much already.  We have improved digital hearing aids and helped bring them to the general public, we have pioneered tests that identify deaf babies at birth, discovered many of the genes responsible for inherited deafness and improved cochlear implants to restore the hearing of profoundly deaf people. These scientific breakthroughs are now transforming the lives of millions of people.

But there is still so much more to be done.

Deafness Research UK is uniquely placed to shape the future of hearing research in this country. By including a gift to us in your will, however large or small, you will help us make a lasting difference to the lives of deaf and hearing impaired people everywhere and bring about a world in which no one has to live with hearing impairment and the problems it brings.

Whatever you are able to give, your support will help us work towards a better quality of life for people with hearing loss, and their families.
