Deafness Research UK helped to fund research into the most successful treatment so far for tinnitus: Tinnitus Retraining Therapy which alleviates symptoms for most sufferers.

Tinnitus, or noises in the head or ear, affects over four million people in the UK.

Our research team at Keele University has discovered that an overproduction of the neurotransmitter glutamate can be linked to tinnitus, a finding that could lead to new drug treatments for the condition.
